WPhost uses SendGrid to send emails that come from your website. The benefit of using SendGrid is a much higher chance of messages being delivered and not ending up in a spam folder. To further improve email deliverability, WPhost now has the ability to authenticate your email through SendGrid.
We impose a 7MB email attachment cap and daily email limits to protect your site from sending spam campaigns. As part of our anti-spam security measures, a highly unusual spike in emails in a short period of time may automatically trigger a temporary shutdown on email sending from the site.
If you expect a spike in email, anticipate going over your limit or find your site is no longer sending email please contact our support team.
For sites where sending a high volume of automated emails from inside WordPress is a core function, you may want to look into dedicated third-party solutions or send all outgoing site email via a SMTP server. The Easy WP SMTP plugin allows you to configure and send all outgoing email via a SMTP server (this could be our SMTP servers if we host your mail). We've found Mailgun to be the most cost effective third-party solution for sending a high volume of emails.
